Statement of Diversity and Inclusion
At Framework, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates human diversity. We strive to honor and affirm our clients’ race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, abilities status, religious affiliation, and physical appearance.
We continually take the following actionable steps to practice this commitment:
As Therapists:
1. We seek to destigmatize access to psychological services for clients of all cultural backgrounds.
2. We recognize that social and political forces often shape one’s sense of psychological wellness. We seek to stay informed of these societal developments and to consider these important contextual factors in our work.
3. We adhere to the latest cultural competency guidelines established by our respective professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, National Association of Social Workers, and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
4. We participate in continuing education on working with clients from marginalized communities.
5. We seek additional education, including (but not limited to) collaborative consultation with our colleagues, when working with clients whose backgrounds may be different than our own.
As a Workplace:
1. We’ve adopted Equal Employment Opportunity procedures and seek to actively recruit and hire a diverse roster of therapists whose identities are representative of the clientele we serve, including those from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
2. All new hires participate in a training on how to recognize and report employee harassment.
3. We foster professional and social opportunities for employees to share, affirm, and celebrate one another’s cultural identities.
4. We host continuing education presentations on working with clients from marginalized communities.
5. We administer annual employee surveys to assess the cultural climate of our practice.
We understand that establishing an inclusive environment is an ongoing endeavor, and that there are always opportunities for growth. Should you experience a concerning interaction with a Framework employee that is not in alignment with our policy, please let us know so that we may address the issue.
Sincerely,
Spencer Scott, Psy.D. (Director)
Elisa Leal, Psy.D. (Assistant Director of Training)
