Postdoctoral Psych. Assistant

Framework Associates is a rapidly expanding practice based in Santa Monica. We were founded on the principles of providing affordable, accessible psychological services from highly qualified psychologists. Current marketing strategies attract high functioning clients in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are experiencing phase of life issues, relationship concerns, or striving to achieve work/life balance.

This postdoc is designed to help strengthen your outpatient clinical skills, developmentally foster your autonomy, and grow your identity as a private practice psychologist. Our 12-month program is designed to provide all hours needed for your licensure as a psychologist in California, and if there is a demonstration of fit during your training year, you’ll likely be invited to remain at Framework as a psychologist once licensed. We plan to accept two postdocs for the 2019-2020 training year with a start date of September 3rd.

Duties: Your clinical duties will include conducting intakes, providing individual and couples therapy for adults, as well as limited cognitive testing.

Hours: FT at 35 hrs/wk. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Opportunity exists to provide online therapy from your home.

Location: One postdoc will work out of our Santa Monica location and the other out of a new location we’ll be opening in east LA. We realize a cross-town commute would be a nightmare, so if you’re only interested in working at one of the two locations please let us know.

Compensation: Competitive per-session rate with an automatic raise halfway through your training year. Our emphasis on the therapeutic relationship allows for highly motivated clients with an average retention rate of 92%, giving you reliable income. A healthcare stipend is available once your caseload reaches FT status (usually within 4-6 weeks of start date).

Supervision: Postdocs will receive primary clinical supervision, professional development supervision, and couples therapy consultation each week from licensed psychologists. Our training model is designed to provide you with a range of supervision perspectives. Although each supervisor may approach supervision in a slightly different manner, we ground ourselves in a warm relational approach and seek to foster your identity as our colleague.

To be considered, you MUST:

  • Hold a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in psychology by September 2nd.

  • Have experience providing individual and couples therapy to adults.

  • Provide LGBT-affirming clinical services & consider cultural sensitivity in your work.

  • Value the therapeutic relationship and strive to build strong rapport with each client, with the ability to retain referred clients in ongoing treatment.

  • Have experience providing clinical services from at least one of the following theoretical orientations: Interpersonal, Relational, Psychodynamic, or Humanistic.

  • Have experience administering the WAIS and WIAT. Experience administerring these tests using QGlobal iPads is preferred, but not required.

  • Provide efficient clinical services with timely documentation.
